Make space for the VIP clients!

One of the biggest fails for most people starting out is that they end up taking on everyone and anyone, every client they meet, essentially, and then suddenly they're just bogged down with far too much work and clients that don't hold much value in their work.

You've got to be really clear and allow yourself that breathing room. You should always have room for your best clients. Call them your VIPs, your most important and valued customers.

It's like at hotels, they will always have VIP suites available for their best customers. And that's how we need to build our practices. Always have that spare capacity for the kind of clients that we want to attract, for the ones that are going pay us £10, £15 or £20 thousand a year where we can generate so much more value. Allowing yourself that capacity ensures that you have the time and resources to take extra care of the really important clients.

So it doesn't really make sense to take on any and every client that crosses your path, right? You need clarity and believe in yourself, believe that you're adding so much value because no doubt that you are. It's often the case that we haven't communicated and articulated that value to our clients in the way that we should have, which means that they don't value us so much.

And as people know, in life you get what you pay for, the more you pay the more likely it is that people are going to value you.
